Utility Rates

Panther Water Tower

General Information

The City of Centralia provides electric, water, sewer and refuse collection services to the residents of Centralia. Utility bills are mailed or emailed on the first day of every month and are due by the 15th of each month without a penalty. After the 15th of each month, a 5% penalty is added to the bill and payment is due by 9 a.m. on the 25th of the month to avoid disconnection for nonpayment. Customers have the option to have their bill sent via email upon request by sending an email to cityhall [at] centraliamo.gov (cityhall[at]centraliamo[dot]gov).

Electric Rates

The electric rate for ALL customers within the City of Centralia:

  • $0.1395 per kilowatt hour effective 4/1/2025
  • $16.00 usage charge (base fee) effective 2/1/2023

Example: 500 kilowatt hours x .1395+ 16.00 = $85.75

 

Water Rates

The water rates for ALL customers within the City of Centralia:

  • (1) For the first 2,000 gallons - $7.84 per 1,000 gallons
  • (2) For 2,001 - 6,000 gallons - $9.60 per 1,000 gallons
  • (3) For 6,001 - 12,000 gallons - $12.83 per 1,000 gallons
  • (4) For all usage over 12,000 gallons - $17.13 per 1,000 gallons 

In addition to the rates listed above, a meter fee based on the meter size is assessed:

  • 5/8 inch to 3/4 inch meter - $18.27 per month
  • 1 inch meter - $30.79 per month
  • 1 1/2 inch meter - $35.16 per month
  • 2 inch meter - $44.43 per month
  • 3 inch meter - $90.31 per month
  • 4 inch meter - $136.96 per month

The minimum charge for water is $6.00 plus the base meter fee.

Example: 800 gallons with 3/4 inch meter = $26.11 per month

           

Sewer Rates

The sewer rate is based on water usage.

  • $4.24 per 1000 gallons of water used
  • $24.30 base fee added to calculated total

Example: (8000 gallons / 1000) x 4.24 + 24.30 = 58.22

Other Charges

  • *Missouri Primacy fee of $.44 (residential)
  • *Sewer Connection fee of $.07 (residential)

  • *Utility Gross Receipts fee is 5% of electric, 5% of water, 5% of sewer

    Example: Electric $82.10 x 5% = $4.11, Water $23.74 x 5% = $1.19, Sewer $24.34 x 5% = $1.22   

    Total Utility Gross Receipts charged = $4.11 + $1.19 + $1.22 = $6.52

*Commercial rates vary depending on the size of the water meter.

Tax is charged as follows:

  • 1.50% for residential (County Tax Only)
  • 8.475% for business inside City limits (City, County and State tax)
  • 5.975% for business outside City limits (County and State tax)
